Hi, I’m Sam

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Texas at Austin. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in a variety of social service settings — from shelters to schools — supporting adolescents, families, and adults. These experiences shaped my deep respect for the strength it takes to reach out for support, and my passion for walking alongside people with compassion and curiosity as they seek transformation and build a life that feels more fulfilling.

In our sessions, I’ll draw from attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and psychodynamic and experiential therapies. This means I’ll invite curiosity about your present struggles while also exploring how past experiences shaped your current patterns. The therapeutic relationship itself becomes a window for understanding how you relate to others, and a safe space to try new ways of connecting.

So often, the strategies that once helped us survive can keep us feeling stuck today. Together, we’ll gently untangle those old stories and make space for new ways of being, so you can move toward greater freedom in the present.

I also stay engaged in ongoing learning and community through my own therapy, consultation, and involvement with the Austin Group Psychotherapy Society, where I connect with colleagues who share my commitment to growth, relationship, and the healing power of group work.

“…have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now.”

--Rainer Maria Rilke, from "Letters to a Young Poet"
